Buying organic or all natural products is becoming more and more important. Consumers are beginning to realize that the products that they are buying are usually filled with harmful chemicals and synthetic ingredients that may not be good for them and their health. When you start to think about all the different products that you use, it can be somewhat alarming to think about all of the chemicals you are coming in contact with throughout the day. To combat this, many people are starting to switch to all natural or organic products. Everything from shampoos and makeup to packaged foods and cleaning products. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when you are buying all natural products.
Just because the outside of a package says it is all natural does not necessarily mean it is. There are very vague guidelines for manufacturers to follow in order to list their products as all natural. One or two ingredients they use in the product may be natural, but the rest could be filled with harmful ingredients. In order to ensure that you are getting a truly natural product, you really need to take a few minutes and turn the package over to read the ingredients list. This is where you will get a true description about what is in your product. In the ingredients list, you want to stay away from anything that is not a naturally derived ingredient. You do not want to see any long, hard to pronounce man-made ingredients. Specific ones to stay away from are hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEG’s, and GMO’s. These ingredients don’t have any place in any product you buy and they can do way more harm than good.
There are obviously some products that you know will be better than others. 100 percent beeswax lip balm or organic whole grain crackers will obviously be better for you than sugar coated gummie worms or chemical filled and frangranced soaps, for example. When shopping, always keep a list of ingredients you don’t want in your products in your wallet. It will help you get the ingredients to whip up your famous healthy oatmeal cookie recipe or wash your child’s hair with comfort and assurance.
