There are many who would agree that the kitchen is hub of any household, and making sure that you have enough storage space in your home kitchen can be a monumental task. With all the great gadgets, gizmos, knick knacks and appliances hitting the market on a daily basis, it’s no wonder that many home owners find themselves quickly running out of this precious commodity. It doesn’t need to be that way, though.
First, if you have the room in your kitchen, then you should have a kitchen island, as this will add cabinet and drawer space, while giving you some overhead room to store pots and pans. A kitchen island is a great place to set glass storage jars and modular storage cubes, as well as smaller appliances like a small microwave, toaster oven, or a mini bar fridge.
Kitchen cabinets are probably the best and most common way to develop storage, yet adding new cabinets to an existing home can be quite pricey. A quick visit to a second hand kitchen outlet in your area could definitely help you save much money on purchases of this type. Many rent their dwellings, as opposed to owning them, so adding space via construction projects simply is not an option.
A couple other areas to consider would be a walk in pantry and a small kitchen hutch. Walk in pantries are a home owners dream come true, and hutches can be purchased rather than built, so you don’t necessarily need to own the place you are currently living in order to take advantage of this home furnishing. If you have the space and the wherewithal, then by all means consider adding a small pantry, or one of the walk in variety.
Developing your kitchen storage space is largely a personal journey, but one that can be both fulfilling and rewarding at the same time. Good luck, and happy hunting…
