Korra Comes To Avatar Fans Demanding An Encore

After thousands of calls e-mails and pleading from fans, Nickelodeon has announced that it will continue its popular series with The Last Airbender 2, which is also named Legend of Korra. Two new seasons will premiere on an announced date, the the first comprising of 12 episodes and the second 14 episodes. The original writers,Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, will be writing all of the new episodes which will air on Nickelodeon. The composer the original series will be back with 1920s New Orleans jazz infused with traditional oriental instruments. Much of the original animation staff will also join this new project, so the new look will be evolved, yet familiar.

The setting will be Republic city which was founded by Aang and his friends after the war ended. All four tribes inhabit the city, giving it an intercultural feel, while each tribe keeps its own identity. The the metropolis is described as being similar to New York plus London plus Tokyo in the Industrial Age.

The Last Airbender 2 takes place 70 years after the old series left off. The Avatar after Aang is, Korra, a 17-year-old woman from the –. She is strong willed and has already mastered three of the elements. Many of the other characters are descendents of the main characters including Aang’s son Tenzi, who will teach Korra Airbending.

The Republic city police force is led by Chief Bei Fong, who is Toph’s daughter. The police are Metalbenders who wear uniforms inspired by 1920s New York City police uniforms with Samurai influences. They have metal suits with spools on their backs that can send out lines to ensnare and tie up offenders. They fly above the city in Zeppelins. The 56 million fans of the original series should be as enthralled with this as they were with the original.
