Maintaining your bike can be a challenge, depending on the amount of time you spend riding, the distance you ride, and your own personal driving habits. Engine oil should be changed every 1,000 – 3,000 miles. Tires should be changed every 5,000 – 15,000 miles. Brake fluid should be changed every two years. The drive chain should be changed every 10,000 – 25,000 miles, and even a stock battery could need replacing every 1-3 years. With this kind of money these routine maintenance checks can add up quickly and add to cost of ownership. Under these circumstances, it is understandable that you may choose to buy used motorcycle parts, and maintain your bike on your own to save money. Occasionally, your bike may need a serious repair, such as a new engine.

This is one case where buying used motorcycle parts is much more affordable option than buying a brand new engine from the factory. There are several places you may find used motorcycle parts, like engines, including at a local junk yard, or at a dealer that may be in your area. Often times, someone will sell a bike that no longer runs to a person with the same model of bike, so that they will be able to grab any parts needed in order to have replacement parts in case anything happens to the bike they currently own.
